Riding Calendar2020 Events

Availabilty is subject to change so please always inquire ahead of time to see if dates have opened or closed. Please give at least 24 to 48 hours notice for your request when possible because stable plans man change if there are no rides booked.

Overnight and All Day Trail rides are generally only available midweek. Overnight trail rides are restricted to adults (18+) unless a guardian is accompanying the minor or supervises them in the evening. Non rider guardians can join in the meals and camping for an additional Guardian Fee.

To request a ride visit our RIDE REQUEST FORM.
All rides are by appointment only. Because of our riding and working schedule, we are rarely near our phone until late at night. All rides must be requested through our request form or written correspondence.

1/4 NEW YEARS COMMUNITY CELEBRATION

Painted Bar Stables
Burdett, NY

Dish to pass for everyone to celebrate the community. In these winter months we don't seem to mingle as much so it's a great opportunity to reconnect with other students and community members, as well as welcome new people to the gang and get to know them face to face.

This event is open to the general public so bring your family and friends. Not a member of the community but want to be? Come anyways! We want you to join and we welcome new faces!

All of the horses will be inside so that everyone can visit with their favorite horses while they are here, or meet the newer ones if you haven't had the opportunity yet. We may also wrangle Captain Tubbington the steer so everyone can say hello as well!

We have a number of games organized for everyone to participate in to keep everyone warm! And if you don't want to play, don't worry we'll have the heaters running.

At the event we also plan to roll out new programs and ideas for the community and the 2020 schedule!

This will be a fun trail ride at Sugar Hill while the Fingerlakes National Forest trails are closed the day before Easter Sunday.

If we get enough people we will have a second guide to lead a shorter and slower ride and I will take a faster and longer group so that everyone can get what they want. We would probably all meet up for lunch so that people can swap groups if they want.

25/50
Biltmore Estate
Asheville, NC

Moses Cone Memorial Park
Blowing Rock, NC

Carvins Cove Recreation Area

What more can I say? This has become our flagship endurance trip!

There is simply nothing as good as this trip. We ride the Biltmore, DuPont State Forest and Carvins Cove. We camp a couple nights but mostly cabins. Miles and miles of riding through vineyards, past the castle, through woods, in rhododendron glades, past waterfalls, around a reservoir, up mountains.... you name it!

NY ADVENTURE
30/50
Pure Country Campground
Brookfield Trail System
New Berlin, NY

Jennifer Marosek VanDusen loves this spring race!

This is a really great race for people who want to do their first ever 30 mile event. It's incredibly user friendly and easy and they take great care of all of their contestants. First timers even get green bracelets that are basically a ticket to help the entire weekend.

This race is also particularly wonderful for racers wanting to do their first solo 30 because while humans camp, there are stalls for horses!!

Rates:
$650 for Painted Bar Students including
A FREE MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP RIDES
15% off if purchased before February 28th

Additional cost for staff escort during the race.
Because it is just Jen hosting this trip alone only riders age 16 and older are allowed on this ride as they are old enough to ride without a sponsor.

6/5 - 6/8 GMHA SPRING COMPETITIVE TRAIL AND ENDURANCE RACE Green Mountain Horse Association
South Woodstock, VT

This area of Vermont is one of my favorite places in New England to go riding. It is snuggled right in the mountains and takes you across beautiful fields with epic views and dirt laneways that wind across the terrain.

This Spring event is particularly special beause they offer both a Competitive Trail Ride (Saturday) AND an Endurance Event (Sunday) on the same weekend.

This is a great event to go to if you would like:
a compare and contrast of Endurance and CTR
to do back to back race days

Rates:
$1300 for Painted Bar Students including
A FREE MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP RIDES
15% off if purchased before February 28th.

Additional cost for staff escort during the race.

BROOKFIELD CTR
15/30
Pure Country Campground
Brookfield Trail System
New Berlin, NY
This trip goes to the same place as the NY Adventure but instead of Endurance it is a Competitive Trail Ride.

Jennifer Marosek VanDusen and I will have to coordinate who is taking this trip but we assume it will be the same experience and cost as the NY Adventure endurance race.

The difference between endurance and competitive trail is that it is not a race, but to place you HAVE to come in within a window. As a result the average required speed is actually faster than the slowest speed for Endurance, but there's no pressure to go even faster to win.

8/7 - 8/9 METROPARK EXPRESS BENEFIT RIDE 15/25/50 Kensington Metropark Group Camp
Millford, MI

This endurance trip ties into the Youth Pro Endurance Camp as an add on. Because it is before school starts this is an excellent ride for the teenagers to join on and one of the few where we specifically invite underage travelers.

The race is available for students at the 15 mile introductor ride level or the 30 mile limited distance endurance level.

Because we get so busy at the Hector Half Hundred, we actually suggest that people who want to do a 30 mile race do this one instead of the Hector race in order to free up more horses for the 15 mile competitors.

Rates:
$975 for Painted Bar Students including
A FREE MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP RIDES
15% off if purchased before February 28th

No additional cost for staff escort for teenage riders.
There will be additional cost for staff escort for adult riders during the race.
