About Us...
Availabilty is subject to change so please always inquire ahead of time to see if dates have opened or closed. Please give at least 24 to 48 hours notice for your request when possible because stable plans man change if there are no rides booked.

Overnight and All Day Trail rides are generally only available midweek. Overnight trail rides are restricted to adults (18+) unless a guardian is accompanying the minor or supervises them in the evening. Non rider guardians can join in the meals and camping for an additional Guardian Fee.

To request a ride visit our RIDE REQUEST FORM.
All rides are by appointment only. Because of our riding and working schedule, we are rarely near our phone until late at night. All rides must be requested through our request form or written correspondence.

3/16 BLACKWATER SWAMP STOMP
15/25/50
Tidewater Horse Trail
Ivor, VA
This is the ONLY OTHER Endurance Race opportunity that offers a 15 mile race. It is the first race of the year in Ivor VA.

This event is over St. Patrick's day weekend. It is still up in the air as to the logistics of this trip and people who are interested can help us craft it. We can make it a longer trip with stops along the way or a short trip to the race and back.

Estimated cost is $275/day

15% off for Painted Bar Stables students if purchased before 2019

3/23 RABBIT RUN
30/50
Wharton State Forest
Browns Mills, NJ
This endurance race is another early season race. It is hosted by the NJ Trail Ride Association: https://www.njtrailride.org

From what I know, this race tends to have a lot of sandy patches and single track trails.

Similar to Blackwater Swamp Stomp, the itinerary is still up in the air and can be flexible.

Estimated cost is $275/day.

15% off for Painted Bar Stables students if purchased before 2019

3/30 FERN HOLLOW OBSTACLE COURSE Fern Hollow Stables
Freeville, NY
Fern Hollow Stables in Freeville has been developing an obstacle course and is hosting an event that would be fun to attend.

https://www.facebook.com/events/2127612630887600/

This is NOT a distance ride but an area with numerous obstacles for people to attempt with their horses. I imagine everything from climbing tires to pool noodle crazy obstacles to challenging things for riders to do from the saddle.

Day trip cost of $100 + entry fees

Added fees for instruction or supervision from PBS staff.

Teens aged 15 and up are welcome to attend alone with approval.
Youth under age 15 must have an adult supervision.
PBS will not be providing any human transportation.

4/6 FOXCATCHER
25/50
Fairhill, MD I don't yet have much information about this event but I LOVE MARYLAND so I'm putting it on the list. It offers a 25 and a 50 mile option early in the season when the Fingerlakes National Forest is still closed.

Similar to the other races, there's no set itinerary yet so it's flexible.

Estimated cost is $275 per day

15% off for Painted Bar Stables students if purchased before 2019

4/20 SUGAR HILL ALL DAY RIDE Sugar Hill State Forest
Watkins Glen, NY
This will be a fun trail ride at Sugar Hill while the Fingerlakes National Forest trails are closed the day before Easter Sunday.

If we get enough people we will have a second guide to lead a shorter and slower ride and I will take a faster and longer group so that everyone can get what they want. We would probably all meet up for lunch so that people can swap groups if they want.

Price for this is scaling so the more people the merrier:
6+ Riders: $235 per person per day
4-5 Riders: $260 per person per day
2-3 Riders: $325 per person per day

15% off if purchased before 2019

What more can I say? This has become our flagship endurancetrip!

There is simply nothing as good as this trip. We ride the Biltmore, DuPont State Forest and Carvins Cove. We camp a couple nights but mostly cabins. Miles and miles of riding through vineyards, past the castle, through woods, in rhododendron glades, past waterfalls, around a reservoir, up mountains.... you name it!

NY ADVENTURE
30/50
Pure Country Campground
Brookfield Trail System
New Berlin, NY

Jennifer Marosek VanDusen took students to this Memorial Day race last year and had an ABSOLUTE BLAST!

This is a really great race for people who want to do their first 30 mile event. It's incredibly user friendly and easy and they take great care of all of their contestants. First timers even get green bracelets that are basically a ticket to help the entire weekend.

This race is also particularly wonderful for racers wanting to do their first solo 30 because while humans camp, there are stalls for horses!!

Rates:
$780 for Painted Bar Students including
A FREE MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP RIDES
15% off if purchased before 2019

$700 for BYO Horse using Painted Bar Transportation

Additional cost for staff escort during the race.
Because it is just Jen hosting this trip alone only riders age 16 and older are allowed on this ride as they are old enough to ride without a sponsor.

BROOKFIELD CTR
15/30
Pure Country Campground
Brookfield Trail System
New Berlin, NY
This trip goes to the same place as the NY Adventure but instead of Endurance it is a Competitive Trail Ride.

Jennifer Marosek VanDusen and I will have to coordinate who is taking this trip but we assume it will be the same experience and cost as the NY Adventure endurance race.

The difference between endurance and competitive trail is that it is not a race, but to place you HAVE to come in within a window. As a result the average required speed is actually faster than the slowest speed for Endurance, but there's no pressure to go even faster to win.

8/16 FLX ALL DAY RIDE
for the YOUNG AT HEART

This is the end of summer all day ride for the Apprentice Gang at Painted Bar Stables

This ride is probably going to be based at the Backbone Horse Camp and ride the north trails all day.

Price scales with number of riders so more the merrier:
6+ Riders: $235 per person per day
4-5 Riders: $260 per person per day
2-3 Riders: $325 per person per day

8/24 NE CHALLENGE
30/50
Buckfield, ME RIGHT NOW THE DATES FOR THIS RIDE HAVE NOT BEEN POSTED BUT WE ASSUME IT WILL BE ON 8/24

The NE Challenge is a really laid back and fun ride at the end of the summer. Because it is before school starts this is an excellent ride for the teenagers to join on and one of the few where we specifically invite underage travelers.

The trails for this ride are really quite beautiful through the mountains of Western Maine. There are many single track trails through the woods but also some wide sandy dirt lanes along a river. Overall it is a moderately easy ride to keep pace on.

Because we get so busy at the Hector Half Hundred, we actually suggest that people who want to do a 30 mile race do this one instead of the Hector race in order to free up more horses for the 15 mile competitors.

9/21 RIDE WITH NO NAME
25/50
Wayne National Forest

Estimated cost is $275/day.

15% off for Painted Bar Stables students if purchased before 2019

10/12 GMHA FALL ENDURANCE
30/50
Green Mountain Horse Association
Woodstock, VT
THIS WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL RIDE! Let me repeat: if you want a fantastic fall foliage endurance race this will be the one.

The last time we were in VT we did a CTR near the GMHA and only used them for stalls overnight. This time the ride will be based out of the Horse Association.

If they use the same trails they did as the CTR, this route spends lot of time on single lane dirt roads going up and down the Vermont mountains and spending some time on some decently wide woods trails. The route is full of ridiculously gorgeous vistas of the mountain.

This will be a pretty user friendly race as there should be stalls available for horses. If stalls are available we may want to consider renting a cabin instead of camping.

The itinerary is still up in the air and can be flexible.

Estimated cost is $275/day.

15% off for Painted Bar Stables students if purchased before 2019
